The cottage is set in open countryside midway between
Harrogate and York and barely 10 minutes drive from the market towns of Knaresborough and Wetherby.
This makes it ideally situated to explore the many attractions that the area has to offer.

York - 20 Minutes
is a compact city, surrounded by ancient stone walls and four magnificent gateways (bars). The city is unique in having evidence of occupation from Roman, Saxon and Viking times and throughout the middle ages. It's 2000 years of history are timelessly recreated in it's many museums and ancient buildings, including the Jorvic Viking Centre and Castle Museum. It's 800 year old Minster is the largest Gothic cathedral in Northern Europe. It boasts more ghosts than any other European city. York also plays host to the National Railway Museum, the largest of its kind in the world, providing a vast array of locomotives and railway memorabilia.

Knaresborough - 10 Minutes
This busy little Market Town is home to "England's Oldest Attraction" with Mother Shipton's Cave, legendary birthplace of Knaresborough's famous 15th-century witch and prophetess. Her Cave and petrifying Well remain firm favourites with its visitors, together with picturesque walks from the castle crag which stands high above the river Nidd.

Harrogate - 15 Minutes
Harrogate is one of Englands finest Spa towns, with tourism forming the basis of it's rural economy since the late victorian period. Justifiably proud of being "England's Floral District", the Harrogate District overflows with beautiful parks, floral displays and gardens. It's many attractions include the famous Betty's Tea Rooms, Harlow Carr Botanical Gardens, The Stray, The Royal Baths and The Royal Pump Room Museum.

Harrogate's restaurants and tearooms offers a choice cuisine of the highest quality and are a perfect way to end a day spent wandering around it's shops of antiquity and wares

The White Horse - 35 Minutes
Also known as the Kilburn Horse, this landmark was carved into the hillside in 1857. It measures 228 feet high and can be seen from up to 40 miles away. Walks along the escarpment boasts spectacular views accross the Vale Of York. Alternatively take a more relaxing stroll through the forest trails below.
